North American Mounts: General

Reclined Mountain Lion

DESCRIPTION

Our majestic taxidermy mount of a Mountain Lion is positioned calmly lying upon a natural piece of driftwood, as if this beauty was in the tree scanning the countryside. The base of the mount is able to be constructed to either be free standing or configured to hand upon the wall. This exquisite lion would look perfect hanging on your fireplace, positioned on a table or situated someplace in your great room. Wherever you choose to place it, it will certainly be a show stopper!

The Mountain Lion's  range spans from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes of South America,  and is the greatest of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere. An adaptable species, the cougar is found in most American habitat types. It is the second-heaviest cat in the New World, after the jaguar. Secretive and largely solitary by nature, the cougar is properly considered both nocturnal and crepuscular, although there are daytime sightings. The cougar is more closely related to smaller felines, including the domestic cat, than to any species of subfamily Pantherinae, of which only the jaguar is native to the Americas. The coat is typically tawny, but ranges to silvery-grey or reddish, with lighter patches on the underbody, including the jaws, chin, and throat.
